The JEDI REPORT : The Resurrection
Av Geir "Jedi" Pedersen, 23. Mars 2001
What can I say.... We`re back. The only serious backgammon article on the net. Read about the resent master tournament in tromsoe and about the upcoming nordic open, where of course the Jedi Academy comes into play.

THE JEDI REPORT:THE RESURRECTION

After months in the dark, where evil forces has, without any luck though, tried to break down the moral upon the staff in the JEDIREPORT by repeatingly threaten our civil rights to freedom of speech, we have gone under ground, changed our location to a secret place, and we are happy to say that we are back.

The resent Master Tournament on the "Iceplanet" Tromsoe was played Sunday 18`th of March. The Jedi Academy showed up in good form with all the wellknown and unknown characters that loves the art of backgammon. We also had the pleasure of hosting Marianne Husum "the warrior princess", who over the years has become very "soft" for our lovely city Tromsoe.

The tournament went down in two groups of 6 players each. After, as usual, a very close call in both groups, Jon Røyseth "the talented mr. slowely", Andre, Trond Vegard and Sven Wissløff Nilsen ended up in the semi finals. The final was played between Jon and Sven, where Jon cruised in to a non dramatick victory. And the crowed went absolutely wild, at least the two of us who had the stamina to watch the final almost at night.

NORDIC WIDE OPEN

The Nordic open this year are going to be crowded with norwegians. Acording to Marianne almost as much as 20-25 players are heading for our danish friends, something that reflects the positiv development in Norwegian backgammon just now. For the first time, the Jedi Academy are heading against the international arena. So watch out JERRY, KIT, and all U so called world class players... So far the Academy are sending 5 players: Jon,Frode, Samson, Sven and Trond Vegard. The "Bountyhunters" Geir, Bjarte, Andre and Nils Ravnboe will propably stay at home to defend rebellion territory. But these guys will for sure be observed in Oslo Open, one month later.

In Nordic open, they also have a team event. The team from Tromsø will of course be named "The Jedi Academy" and will propably contain: Jon Kristian Røyseth, Frode Bull Jæger & Samson Hoiigaard. Sven Wissløff Nilsen has agreed to be the "dice caddie" for the evening. Thank U Sven... the dices are really heavy theese days. And of course it`s classy.

Everybody are for sure looking forward to the trip with the rest of the "cracy Norwegians"

Trust nobody......
