Dates: 12th - 13th of September

Entry: 190 € + 10€ registration, 100€ sidepool.

Format: 9x7p (truncated round robin), Win & Skill scoring.

Location: This time we are located centrally in Oslo City Center: Oslo Schakselskap, Bogstadveien 30, Oslo, Norway. Nearest hotel: Thon Hotel Gyldenløve (2 min. walk)

Invitation only: If you are a BMAB grandmaster (or clearly hold that level) and interested, contact Marianne Husum (marianne.husum@online.no) as soon as possible.

About: Oslo Grandmaster challenge was introduced last year. We managed to gather a strong field of 22 grandmasters. The tournament is a nonprofit tournament and based on volunteers in the Oslo backgammon community. The aim is to gather a number of the best players in Europe to compete in a PR based format. It would not be possible without our sponsors: BMAB, Heroes - Backgammon Studio, Norwegian backgammon federation and Oslo backgammon club.

Prize distribution: Top 4 wins prizes with the distribution 40%, 30%, 20%, 10%. As the final standing is not ready before all matches are analyzed, the prizes will be paid out after the tournament is ended. There is an additional sidepool of 100€ on the W&S results. This will be divided 70% to winner and 30% for second best.

Rules:

The WBGF rules will be used. As this is a BMAB we will use legal moves option. Dice on checker is not valid

Draw will be digital using software by Norwegian backgammon federation (www.nbgf.no). If recording of a match fails completely each player gets 0.5 W&S points.

All matches are played with clocks and will be video recorded.

All matches count for all players in the BMAB system.

Scoring is based on Win & Skill format: (1 point for winning the match. PR winner gets 0.5 + PR_difference/2 points, limited to 1. PR loser gets 0.5-PR_difference/2 points, limited to 0).

Recording and transcription:

There will be a technical team that handles cameras, transfers the videos to a google drive and finally to youtube. The same google drive will be used to save the match transcriptions (xg-files) before they are finally sent to BMAB.

If you have your own recording equipment we encourage you to bring it.

We will have a streaming table where we hope to transcribe live.

Players are expected to transcribe 4–5 of their own matches. If you prefer not to transcribe your matches, you must opt-out during registration for an additional €50 fee so the technical team can handle it.
